On June 28, 2016, Manchester UMC hosted an interfaith service of prayers for peace and unity following the events of the horrific slaughter of innocent lives at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, FL. One of the speakers that evening was Richard Eaton. Beyond the wonderful sharing of his perspective as a gay man, he took a moment following the prayer service to share a single blessing that he experienced in a time of fellowship that followed the evening’s service.
The last person to approach me was a small girl who said she wanted me to know that she liked what i said. After I thanked her, I looked to see if she had been sent by a parent, but I didn’t notice any adults watching her. That was one of the highlights of my evening.
That a child may show us the way. I invite you to watch this short video excerpt from Richard’s reflections.
